TOKYO: The Treasury Department stated that US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen will meet with her Japanese counterpart Shunichi Suzuki on the sidelines of the Group of 20 finance leaders’ summit in Washington.

The meeting is scheduled for later this week. Following a severe depreciation in the yen, authorities in both nations agreed late last month to interact closely on currency concerns.

The possibility of aggressive interest rate hikes in the United States, along with the Bank of Japan’s intention to maintain aggressive monetary easing, has pushed the yen to 20-year lows against the dollar.
