Kia’s ‘EV Day’ showcases a bright electric future with 15 upcoming models
Kia displayed a strong commitment to electrification during the inaugural Kia EV Day. The event featured the introduction of a new production model, the Kia EV5, and a showcase of their established models, including the award-winning EV6 and flagship EV9.
Moreover, the event gave a glimpse of Kia’s electric future with the unveiling of two new concept cars, the EV3 and EV4.
As part of its ambitious electric strategy, Kia is aiming to significantly expand its electric vehicle portfolio by introducing 15 new all-electric models by 2027. Notably, these upcoming models will be exclusively electric, without any hybrid variants.
Some of these new electric vehicles will even come with performance-oriented GT versions, similar to the EV6 GT.
Kia’s dedication to making electric cars accessible to a wider range of drivers is evident through the compact EV3. Although specific powertrain and performance details are yet to be disclosed, the EV3 is set to offer a more budget-friendly option in the form of a compact SUV, comparable to how the Range Rover Evoque relates to the Range Rover flagship.
The EV4 concept takes a unique approach by blending elements of a sedan, an elongated hatchback, and a crossover. Inspired by the EV6, it features a distinctive design with a sloping nose, a raked windshield, and an integrated rear spoiler.
Inside, the cabin offers a clean and spacious layout with concealed components, including retractable climate controls and innovative pin-style air vents to enhance airflow control.
Kia’s commitment to electrification remains steadfast, although specific powertrain details for the EV3 and EV4 concepts were not revealed. Ho-sung Song, President and CEO of Kia Motors, emphasized their dedication to providing electric solutions, expanding the EV lineup across various price points, and improving charging infrastructure.
Kia’s ultimate goal is to deliver unique value to a broader audience, making the transition to electric mobility a necessity.
Kia’s official entry into the electric vehicle landscape marks a significant milestone. Their focus on advanced EV technology, distinctive design, and customer-focused services is a decisive step toward electrification in the automotive industry.
