Pakistani Freelancers Can Generate $10 Billion from Tech Exports
Dr. Umar Saif, Pakistan’s Interim Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, is spearheading a significant initiative to boost the country’s technology service exports to other nations.
The objective is to achieve an annual revenue of $10 billion by facilitating one million freelancers to earn approximately $30 per day. The government plans to assist through financial support and shared workspaces within the next two to three months.
Pakistan is in discussions with PayPal to simplify payment methods for freelancers, and they are aiming to implement 5G technology within approximately eight months.
At present, Pakistan’s tech sector generates approximately $2.5 billion annually through the export of services to international markets.
The government is actively working to increase this figure. Dr. Saif emphasizes the importance of securing investment and creating collaborative workspaces within the private sector to ensure the success of this ambitious initiative. If successful, it has the potential to significantly boost Pakistan’s economy.
