In a surprising turn of events, Yamaha, one of the prominent motorcycle manufacturers, has once again announced a significant increase in the price of its bikes, leaving consumers in disbelief. This move comes less than a month after an initial staggering jump in prices, raising concerns among motorcycle enthusiasts and potential buyers.

The latest announcement indicates a hike of Rs. 18,000 in the YBR 125 G series, effective December 5, 2023. While the company had recently witnessed a surge in prices, the decision to further escalate the costs appears unexpected, especially when consumers were anticipating a potential reduction, considering the recent trend of declining car prices following the appreciation of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar.

New Prices: YBR 125 G Series

The YBR125G (Red/Black) now stands at Rs. 471,000, compared to the previous price of Rs. 453,000, reflecting a significant jump of Rs. 18,000.

The revised price of the Yamaha YBR125G (Matt Dark Gray/Matt Orange) is Rs. 474,000, up from the old rate of Rs. 456,000, again with a notable increase of Rs. 18,000.

Previous Price Hike Overview

In the last round of price hikes, Yamaha increased the rates across various models:

The Yamaha YB125Z (Red/Black) witnessed an increase of Rs. 15,500, reaching a new price of Rs. 396,000 compared to the previous Rs. 380,500.

The Yamaha YB125Z-DX (Red, Blue, and Black) saw a jump from Rs. 423,500 to Rs. 440,500, marking a Rs. 15,000 increase.

The Yamaha YBR 125 (Red/Blue/Black) experienced a hike of Rs. 16,500, bringing the price to Rs. 435,500 from the previous Rs. 419,000.

This unexpected and consecutive surge in prices is likely to be met with disappointment from consumers, especially as motorcycles are already perceived as unaffordable for the inflation-stricken masses, despite being targeted at the middle-class segment.

Yamaha has not provided a specific reason for these successive price jumps, maintaining a tradition of ambiguity following previous revisions. The company’s decision raises questions about the factors influencing such increases and the impact it may have on the motorcycle market in the region.

As consumers grapple with these rapid changes, industry analysts and motorcycle enthusiasts alike await further clarification from Yamaha on the reasoning behind these successive price hikes. In the meantime, the motorcycle market in Pakistan is left to navigate the challenges posed by these unforeseen developments.
