LAHORE: Onion prices continue to surge relentlessly across Pakistan, causing concern among residents as the cost per kilogram exceeds Rs300.
In Islamabad, the current week sees onions priced at a staggering Rs320 per kilogram, putting financial strain on households.
Reports highlight varying onion prices in different cities, with Islamabad leading at Rs320 per kilogram, followed by Rs310 in Rawalpindi, Rs280 in Peshawar, and Rs270 in Sialkot.
Karachi, Lahore, and Gujranwala experience a slightly lower rate of Rs240 per kilogram. In Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, and Bahawalpur, onions are being sold at Rs 220 per kilogram.
In Quetta, Sukkur, and Larkana, the price stabilizes at Rs220 per kilogram, while in Khuzdar, it stands at Rs250. The cities of Hyderabad and Bannu witness the lowest rates at Rs 200 per kilogram.
The escalating onion prices pose a significant challenge for households across the country, emphasizing the need for measures to stabilize the market and ensure affordability for essential commodities.
