Ghee, cooking oil prices see big drop in Pakistan
Inflation in Pakistan saw a slight uptick last week, with a 0.04 percent increase weekly and a notable 30.68 percent rise annually, according to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
The report highlights that among essential daily items, eight witnessed a price decrease, while 20 remained stable and 23 saw no change. Notably, onion prices surged by 14.42%, eggs by 11.19%, and LPG by 1.82%.
However, some items experienced a decrease, including tomatoes by 22.71%, bananas by 7.40%, and diesel by 3.02%. Interestingly, cooking oil prices edged up by 0.75%, while Banaspati ghee saw a modest 0.11% increase.
Meanwhile, the Consumer Price Sensitive Index (CPI) for various income groups also fluctuated, with a slight decrease of 0.08% in the lowest income bracket.
This index, calculated based on 51 essential commodities across 17 major cities, provides insights into the cost of living across different income levels in the country.
