The Sindh government in Karachi has taken a huge step forward by introducing the eagerly anticipated “People’s Bus Service,” aiming to improve public transportation in the city. This new addition to Karachi’s transport system is expected to completely change the way people commute on a daily basis.

One of the most crucial components of the People’s Bus Service is Route 3, which connects Power House Chowrangi to Shaan Chowrangi, covering a total distance of 31 kilometers. This route is operational and is set to greatly simplify travel within the city.

The key stops along Karachi’s Red Bus R3 route include Power House Chowrangi, UP More, Nagan Chowrangi, Sakhi Hasan, 5 Star Chowrangi, KDA Chowrangi, Nazimabad Eid Gah Ground, Liaquatabad 10 Number, Essa Nagri, Civic Centre, National Stadium, Karsaz, Nursery, FTC, Korangi Road, KPT Interchange, and finally, Shaan Chowrangi.

As part of the enhancements to the bus service, the People’s Bus Service now features air-conditioned red buses with a seating capacity of approximately 40 passengers. In an effort to promote inclusivity, dedicated spaces for women have been included. Additionally, for those who prefer to stand, an extra 40 commuters can be accommodated.

In terms of affordability, the fare for most routes falls between PKR 50-100, ensuring accessibility for all socioeconomic groups. However, it’s important to note that Route 9 charges PKR 100 after Malir Halt.

Overall, the introduction of the People’s Bus Service and the improvements made to Route 3 are expected to greatly benefit Karachi commuters by providing a more convenient, efficient, and accessible mode of public transportation within the city.
