Update on New Electricity Connection Process by Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (IESCO)

The Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (IESCO) oversees the electricity distribution network in districts including Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Attock, Jhelum, and Islamabad. Recently, IESCO has introduced a lump sum fee package for new electricity connections, with fees starting from Rs8,500.

For those constructing new houses in Islamabad and surrounding regions under IESCO’s jurisdiction, a specific application process outlined by IESCO must be followed to obtain a new single-phase connection.

New Connection Procedure:

Step 1: Obtain five copies of the Application and Agreement (A&A) form, along with the Abridged Conditions of Supply, free of cost from designated locations such as Subdivisional Offices and Customer Service Centers.

Step 2: Complete all five copies of the A&A form and submit them along with one copy of the Abridged Conditions of Supply and the following supporting documents:

  • Property or ownership proof (Registry)
  • Consumer Electricity Bill of any adjacent premises
  • Advertisement
  • Wiring Test Report for all connections other than domestic
  • An Affidavit stating no previous connection existed at the premises and willingness to pay dues if discovered later
  • Owner’s National Identity Card (photocopy)
  • Photocopy of Witness’s National Identity Card
  • “No Objection Certificate” from the landlord (if applicable)

Duration for New Electricity Connection in Islamabad:

The process typically takes around 35 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas to complete.

Revised Electricity Meter Connection Charges in Islamabad, Chakwal, and Rawalpindi:

The new electricity connection fee for a single phase varies based on the length of the service line. The minimum cost for a new meter is Rs8,500 if the length of the service line is up to 20 meters.
