Cement prices surge in Pakistan
Cement exports from Pakistan saw a significant rise of 35.92% during the first ten months of the financial year 2023–24, compared to the same period last year.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), cement exports totaled US $204.546 million from July to April 2023–24, up from US $150.488 million in the corresponding period of 2022–23.
In terms of quantity, exports surged by 63.51%, reaching 5,301,161 metric tons, compared to 3,242,161 metric tons previously.
In April 2024 alone, cement exports recorded a remarkable 66.61% increase year-on-year, reaching US $25.074 million compared to US $15.049 million in April 2023.
On a month-on-month basis, exports also surged by 61.02% in April 2024 compared to March 2024, according to PBS data.
The substantial increase in cement exports reflects positively on Pakistan’s economic performance and export potential in the construction materials sector, contributing to revenue generation and economic growth.
