The federal government will present the Budget 2024–25 today, June 12, with a total outlay of Rs 18,000 billion. There is significant anticipation that federal employees will see a substantial increase in their salaries.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will table the budget, which primarily aims at securing a bailout package of $6 to $8 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to prevent the country from defaulting.

Recent updates suggest that the government is expected to raise federal employees’ salaries by 10-15% in the upcoming fiscal year. If this proposal is approved by parliament, the increased salaries will take effect in July 2024.

The expected salary increase is part of the government’s broader strategy to stabilize the economy and provide relief to government employees amid ongoing economic challenges.

The exact details of the salary increments will be confirmed once the budget is officially announced later today.
