DUBAI – Starting July 8, 2024, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended the validity of passports for citizens aged 21 and older.

The validity of the passport of UAE citizens aged 21 years and above has been extended from the present 5 to 10 years from the date of issuance, or until all its pages are fully used, whichever happens earlier.

The UAE government announced that citizens under 21 years old will still have a five-year validity period, according to an official statement.

The new 10-year Emirati passports will be issued using the same procedures and delivery methods as the current passports.

Documents Required to apply for a passport

When applying for a passport, you are required to submit:

  • original and a copy of the Emirates ID card
  • original and a copy of the family book
  • a recent photo.
