Cooking Oil and Ghee Prices Increase- Check Latest Rates Here
The prices of essential kitchen staples, ghee and cooking oil, have increased by as much as 20% over the past two months, intensifying the financial strain on households already dealing with high living costs.
Reports indicate that ghee prices have risen by Rs 30 to Rs 120 per kilogram, while cooking oil prices have increased by Rs 50 to Rs 150 per litre across various cities.
Retailers confirm that the price hikes are affecting households nationwide, with variations depending on the brand and quality of the products.
In December 2024, premium-grade ‘A’ quality ghee now costs between Rs 505 and Rs 559 per kilogram. In urban centres like Lahore, popular brands such as Sufi ghee are priced as high as Rs 350 per kilogram. Mid-range ‘B’ quality ghee is selling for Rs 440 to Rs 500 per kilogram.
Cooking oil prices are following a similar trend. Shopkeepers and wholesale dealers attribute the surge to rising raw material costs in international markets and ongoing global supply chain disruptions.
The price hikes have left consumers worried, questioning government claims of decreasing inflation as essential items continue to become more expensive.
