ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced plans to purchase over 1000 new vehicles this year to strengthen the capacity of its field officers, according to sources on Monday.

The FBR has issued a letter of intent for the acquisition of 1010 vehicles, valued at over Rs6 billion. The purchase will take place in two phases with a full upfront payment being made.

Sources revealed that an initial payment of Rs3 billion will be made for the purchase of 500 vehicles, considered as the first installment. Following the delivery of this initial batch of 500 vehicles, the remaining payment will be made. The delivery of the entire 1010 vehicles is expected between January and May 2025.

In terms of delivery schedule, the first phase will see 75 vehicles delivered in January, 200 in February, and 225 in March. The second phase will include 250 vehicles delivered in April and the remaining 260 vehicles in May.

An FBR spokesperson emphasized that the vehicle acquisition is part of the Board’s ongoing transformation plan aimed at boosting the effectiveness of field officers, with the vehicles reserved solely for their use.
