Haval has officially launched the long-awaited plug-in hybrid version of its popular H6 crossover, setting a new benchmark for Chinese hybrid SUVs. This new model adds to the existing lineup, which already includes a 1.5-liter turbo and a 1.5-liter hybrid version.
Priced at Rs12,895,000, the Haval H6 PHEV now directly competes with the MG HS PHEV, another Chinese C-segment crossover aimed at the same market. While both vehicles use similar hybrid technology, the H6 is slightly larger, placing it closer to the C+ segment.
According to Haval, the H6 PHEV delivers a combined output of 360 horsepower and 760 Nm of torque, making it more powerful than the MG HS PHEV, which produces 280 horsepower and 480 Nm. The company’s brochure also claims the H6 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, although this figure is likely based on ideal conditions.
H6 PHEV in Pakistan
The Haval H6 PHEV comes with a bigger 19.09 kWh battery compared to the MG HS PHEV’s 16.6 kWh pack. This allows it to claim an electric driving range of 100 km (NEDC), which is double the MG HS’s 50 km (WLTP). Its fuel efficiency is also better, rated at 91 km per liter versus the HS PHEV’s 58.8 km per liter.
The H6 PHEV is larger in size overall, providing more interior space and a stronger road presence. Inside, it offers a 14.6-inch infotainment screen, an eight-way memory-adjustable driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof, and an upgraded sound system. In comparison, the MG HS PHEV comes with a 12.3-inch display and fewer seat adjustment options.
Both SUVs include premium exterior features like LED headlights and fog lamps, but the H6 PHEV stands out with a touchless tailgate and slightly bigger wheels. In terms of safety, it adds advanced features such as autonomous parking, hill descent assist, and a brake override system that the HS PHEV lacks.
Overall, the Haval H6 PHEV appears to be a more powerful, feature-rich, and spacious plug-in hybrid SUV. While the MG HS PHEV remains competitive with solid technology and safety equipment, the H6 sets a higher standard for Chinese PHEV crossovers.
