Karachi Red Line BRT Completion Date Announced
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Wednesday that the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit project may take another two years to complete.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said that many of the problems faced by people would be eased within the next four to six months. He added that the traffic and construction issues on University Road were expected to be resolved by early next year.
Sindh Senior Minister said the provincial government was committed to speeding up the project but delays were happening because of technical issues like shifting gas, water, and K-Electric lines from the route. He said the government was not to blame for the delays and had asked the Karachi Commissioner to monitor the project every day.
He criticized the previous caretaker government for ignoring the project and explained that rising material costs after the contract was signed had made things even more difficult.
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon also apologized to the people of Karachi for the inconvenience, saying the government understood their frustration and was working on the issues daily. He assured that the Sindh government’s goal was to finish the Red Line BRT as soon as possible.
