The Supreme Court has expressed strong divinity at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), saying that FBR is a burden on the country, we will shut it.

According to the details, a two-member bench of the Supreme Court, comprising Justice Gulzar Ahmed, heard the FBR’s appeal regarding the service of its employee, Mohammad Anwar Goraya.

“Put an end to FBR and you will see how much money is collected,” Justice Gulzar Ahmad said, adding that the bureau was burdening the country.

“Trillions of rupees are lost every year, what kind of recovery FBR’s army of 22,000 people can make,” he remarked, while pointing out that 80 per cent of the [total] tax collected was through indirect means.

“Only for collecting 20 per cent revenue, 22,000 people have been hired,” the judge stated angrily.
