ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday decided not to frame charges against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in the contempt of court case.

A case was registered against Khan for threatening Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry during a public rally in Islamabad.

At the outset of hearing, Imran Khan sought permission from the judges to speak and upon getting the approval he maintained that he had no intention to threaten the judge.

“I am ready to explain to the lady judge and to apologize to her,” he added.

PTI Chief also said that he will not commit any such action in the future while explaining that his intentions were never to cross the limits.

He also maintained that he is ready to visit Additional Judge Zeba Chaudhry.

After Imran Khan’s statement, the judges announced that the court will not indict the PTI chief in the contempt of court case adding that the court appreciates his stance.

The court also directed Imran Khan to submit an affidavit in this regard and announced that the court will decide on the matter after the submission of the affidavit.

The case was adjourned till October 3.

Earlier on September 8, IHC decided to indict Imran Khan on September 22 (today) while terming his response unsatisfactory. However, Khan while leaving the court maintained in an informal address that he was not allowed to speak before the judges.
