LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has extended the holidays in schools and colleges of the province for another week owing to the soaring smog situation.

The court has ordered the submission of the notification in this regard.

Pertinently, smog condition in Punjab including Lahore has been intensifying day by day.

The court in the wake of the problem has earlier issued an order regarding the closure of educational institutes.

Not only this, a notification was also issued regarding the early closure of markets and restaurants in Lahore to control the smog.

The court has ordered the authorities to close the markets and restaurants by 10:00 pm daily as the smog conditions intensified in the region.

Pertinently, with the outset of winter, the areas of northern Punjab come under a thick layer of fog affecting daily life.

Moreover, Punjab government had imposed an emergency in the province due to the intensifying smog in the region.
