Game of Thrones resurrected the Iron Throne at the eve of Emmy ceremony, ruling as top drama on a night of surprises.

Game of Thrones’ final season was practically shut out at the main Emmy’s telecast but the show did take home the award for Best Drama Series.

Game of Thrones ties its previous record for most wins for a single season of television. The show previously won 12 awards for its fifth season in 2015, setting a new record.

American fantasy drama television series is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. R. Martin’s series of fantasy novels, the first of which is A Game of Thrones.

The finale of Game of Thrones, the eight-season, released this year. Since 2011, HBO’s “Game of Thrones” has garnered 160 Emmy nominations and taken home 59 prizes for everything from acting and editing to special effects and sound mixing.

The show was nominated for 32 awards, the most for any single season of television ever, and of the ensemble cast, Peter Dinklage has won four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

The final season of the HBO series beat out “NYPD Blue,” which had 26 nominations in 1994.
