Veteran Bollywood actor and father of Javed Jaffri, Jagdeep passed away in Mumbai on Wednesday at the age of 81. The cause of death was age-related health issues. 

Jagdeep’s actual name was Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jaffri. The news of his death was revealed by actor Nasir Khan.

The most memorable character of Jagdeep is Soorma Bhopali in Sholay, by Ramesh Sippy. Fans still recall his catchphrase in the movie “Mera naam Soorma Bhopali aise hi nahin hai”

Jagdeep is also remembered for his role in the comedy movie Andaz Apna Apna where he played father Bankelal of Salman Khan.

The late actor’s last rites will be performed on Thursday at Shia Kabrastan in Mumbai.
