Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department has said that prominent actress Yuko Takeuchi was found dead at her home. She was 40.

According to the details, the Police Department has launched an investigation and suspects that Takeuchi committed suicide.

Other showbiz stars known to have died by suicide include actor Miura Harumi back in July of this year and even reality TV star Kimura Hana back in May.

Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1980, Takeuchi accumulated a long list of credits in both TV dramas and films, as well as many domestic acting awards.

Yuko Takeuchi won a number of awards including the Japanese Academy Award for best actress in a leading role for three years in a row from 2004.

A native of Saitama Prefecture, Takeuchiappeared in a number of television dramas and movies, including the “Asuka” morning drama series broadcast by NHK between 1999 and 2000, and “Sanada Maru,” a taiga yearlong historical drama series aired by the public broadcaster in 2016.

Her excellent performance in Yomigaeri was recognized by the 27th Japanese Academy Awards. She has also won other various awards for her television and film appearances.

It was reported that she may have died from suicide by hanging.
