Famed American singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has surprised his fans with his new single ‘Afterglow‘ after quite a long-break from music.

Taking to Instagram, Ed Sheeran shared the song and wrote, “Hey guys. Afterglow is a song I wrote last year that I wanted to release for you.”

“It’s not the first single from the next album, it’s just a song I love, and hope you love too,” he added.

The singer further added, “”Enjoy ! Have a safe and happy festive break and New Year’s. Back to dad land for me now.”

In August last year, the musician  announced he would be be stepping back from performing in order to prioritise his family life.

Earlier in September, the popular musician had welcomed his first baby girl Lyra with wife Cherry Seaborn.

He had shared a picture of two tiny socks on Instagram and shared the happy news with his 31 million followers.

The singer wrote: “Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you… Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter – Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.”

“We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here,” he said.
