The full cast of American musical fantasy film ‘The Little Mermaid’ which was produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and Walt Disney Pictures, has been revealed.

Disney unveiled this exciting and the most anticipated news on its social media account, they shared the photo and wrote, “Meet the cast of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, starring Halle Bailey, Jonah Hauer-King, Awkwafina, Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay, Melissa McCarthy & Javier Bardem. Directed by Rob Marshall, featuring music from the animated original & new music by Alan Menken & Lin-Manuel Miranda.”

singer and songwriter Halle Bailey will play the role of Ariel, while Daveed Diggs has been given the role of Sebastian the crab.

Javier Bardem will play King Triton, Ariel’s father role, while Flounder will be played by Jacob Tremblay.

Melissa McCarthy will play the role of cruel sea-witch Ursula.

The movie will be directed by Rob Marshall, and will feature music from the animated original, as well as new music by Alan Menken and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Rob Marshall had announced Halle’s role in the movie in July last year.

He said at the time: “After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance—plus a glorious singing voice—all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role.”

The movie is expected to be released at some point next year.
