Qurban Ali Niazi, a well-known folk musician, died in PIMS Hospital Islamabad after a battle with the deadly COVID-19.

Qurban Niazi was hospitalized at the PIMS hospital a few days ago and died on Monday.

Qurban Ali Niazi, a Sitara-i-Imtiaz award, began his career as a village-to-village singer. At the infant age of ten, he made his debut singing at the Urs of a Sufi saint in Multan. He was born into a musical household.

He migrated to Pakistan from Jalandhar in Indian Punjab after the partition.

On November 26, 1964, in Lahore, Niazi performed with his brother, Tufail Niazi, during the launch of Pakistan Television (PTV).
