According to the New York Police Department, Michael K. Williams, who portrayed Omar Little in the TV series The Wire, was found dead in his New York residence on Monday. He was 54 years old at the time.

Williams was found dead in his Brooklyn apartment after a 2 p.m. (1800 GMT) emergency phone call to emergency operators, according to Lieutenant John Grimpel of the New York Police Department.

Williams, who was nominated for an Emmy in 2021 for his work in HBO’s Lovecraft Country, is also known for his involvement in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire.

Williams’ death is still under investigation, according to the NYPD, and the cause of death will be determined by the New York City medical examiner at a later date.
