North Korean sentenced to death for smuggling copies of ‘Squid Game’

According to Radio Free Asia (RFA), a North Korean man has been sentenced to death for smuggling copies of Netflix’s big hit Squid Game into the nation.

A North Korean student who purchased the USB drive was sentenced to life imprisonment, while six others who watched the show were sentenced to five years of hard labour.

Teachers and administrators at the school have been terminated and deported to isolated mines.

North Korean officials caught high school students watching the pirated copies of the show which led to the smuggler’s capture as per the RFA reports (an independent news agency).

Sources told RFA that the South Korean show was smuggled into North Korea using USB flash drives from China.
