Grimes, a former partner of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, claimed responsibility for hacking and shutting down one-man site Hipster Runoff, according to Vice.

Hipster Runoff was a blog that published sarcastic cultural and musical commentary. While it was well received by internet users, it was panned by its intended audience, musicians.

The site, which was active from 2007 until 2013, mysteriously disappeared in 2012.

Claire Boucher, also known as Grimes, has claimed responsibility for a hack on the site. She stated that after images of her embracing a girl were posted there and went viral, she ruined the backup.

Grimes claimed that a friend who worked for a video game business assisted her.

“We were like, we’re not gonna let you put your site back up until you take the story down. And he did in fact take the story down, and it was like, my coolest hacker moment.” She told Vanity Fair.

The artist casually acknowledged a federal felony and seemed unconcerned about it.
