Queen Elizabeth is apparently finding it increasingly difficult to walk or stand for extended periods of time, according to recent royals claims, only days after it was announced that she will only perform minor tasks currently.

After the nearly 96-year-old queen was forced to miss several of the year’s most important royal engagements, experienced royal correspondent Phil Dampier told The Telegraph: “It’s quite simple, really. She’s finding it extremely difficult to walk or stand for long periods.”

The remark comes only weeks after allegations of the Queen’s mobility issues surfaced, with the monarch herself joking about it during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

She also made a joke about it last month when she met with some military visitors at Windsor Castle, telling them “As you can see, I can’t move.”

The Queen’s itinerary is thought to be being adjusted so she can attend her late husband Prince Philip’s memorial service in April.

About her appearance at the memorial, Dampier commented, “She will make a huge effort to attend Prince Philip’s memorial, but they will have to make allowances for her – and no one will begrudge it. She’s nearly 96.”
