Rosalie Chiang, who voices Mei Lee in the upcoming coming-of-age animated feature ‘Turning Red,’ has described her character as an emotional mess.
She described Mei as a character who fights for what she believes is right. Chiang described the character as follows: “Mei is a feisty, self-assured, and emotional jumble. She stands up for what she believes in and refuses to give up without a fight.”

“I relate to her because we both go wild over boy/girl bands, have a tight-knit circle of friends, come from an Asian background, and are passionate about what we believe in,” Rosalie remarked of their shared love of boy/girl bands.
Domee Shi’s film portrays the narrative of Mei Lee, who transforms into a huge Red Panda in order to overcome her greatest weakness, which is provoked by her emotions. It’s also the first Disney and Pixar picture with an all-female creative crew.
