S.S. Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR set the cash registers ringing with a fantastic first day on the Hindi circuit. The picture did poorly at the box office, but on-the-day ticket sales were high and rapidly increasing.

Despite having fewer advance ticket sales and fewer screens than 83, it surpassed it by a wide margin practically everywhere. RRR’s Telugu and regional dubs are currently playing in their respective states, so the Hindi version has little to no chance of breaking out.

The Hindi remake of RRR made an amazing Rs. 19.25 crore nett on its first day. The number is amazing for a film with no actual star power, given that Ram Charan and Jr. NTR aren’t well-known in the north.

The film’s primary selling point for northern audiences was S.S. Rajamouli, whose Baahubali 2 is still the highest-grossing Hindi picture.

The Hindi version of the film needs to gross at least Rs. 180 crore to be a clean hit, and Monday’s box office numbers will reveal whether it can do so.

With over 30% recoveries on the first day, the film has broken all day one records in Telugu states. The movie will almost certainly break even if it can recoup 65 percent of its costs in its opening weekend.
