As she approaches her Platinum Jubilee festivities in June, the Queen is anticipated to be more selective in her public appearances. Her Majesty, who will be 96 next month, will be unable to attend the Commonwealth Day service in London on Monday.

Her absence from Monday’s service will be felt, and it could establish a precedent for such major royal ceremonies in the future.

Royal editor Emily Nash said: “At nearly 96, it’s remarkable that the Queen is as engaged and committed to her duties as ever. But she is not as mobile as she once was and inevitably, she is no longer able to carry out some of the physical elements of her work as she would want to.

“It makes total sense that aides are factoring in her comfort when looking at her schedule from now on.”

The Mail on Sunday also stated that she could have to miss her late husband Prince Philip’s thanksgiving service at Westminster Abbey on March 29. But the expectation is that when she reduces her public appearances, she will be able to travel and attend.
