What wedding advice did Prince William receive from the Queen?

In 2011, Prince William married his ladylove Kate Middleton in a royal fairy tale ceremony, but it wasn’t without its share of terrible moments, which Queen Elizabeth then altered.

The Duke of Cambridge described a particularly difficult period when planning his wedding to Kate in an interview with royal biographer Robert Hardman for his 2012 book Our Queen.

William, now 39, went on to say that he eventually sought guidance from his grandmother, the Queen, on how to manage the difficult issue.

“I wasn’t too happy about it so I rang Queen Elizabeth for a bit of moral support and a bit of back up. And she said ‘Don’t be so ridiculous. Get rid of the list and start from your friends.”

William shared that the now 95-year-old monarch told him to “bin the list”, adding, “She told me there are certain times when you have to strike the right balance.”

“And it’s advice like that, which is really key, when you know that she’s seen and done it before,” he concluded.
