Actor Faran Tahir Slated to Play ‘Baba’ In The Broadway Play ‘The Kite Runner’

Pakistan-America actor Faran Tahir is slated to play the iconic role of ‘Baba’ from Khaled Hosseini’s ground breaking novel ‘Kite Runner’. The character was of a strong Afghan man, who was the father of protagonist Amir.

The Kite Runner is one of the bestselling novels of all time. It follows the story of Amir, who is born in Afghanistan, and is haunted by his failure to protect his childhood friend. The novel has sold millions of copies worldwide and was adapted into a film in 2007.

The news of Faran’s portrayal broke out when his wife Zara Tareen posted on Instagram “To say that I am proud of you is an understatement. I always wished I’d seen you on stage doing your Othello or your Richard III but my wish has come true even better than that. I get to see you on the most prestigious stage on earth, Broadway.”

She later posted an emotional message, “In my heart you’ve always belonged here, it was just a matter of time. I’m so excited for you and cannot wait to watch you experience this beautiful journey.”

Faran Tahir has born in Los Angeles, California, and has appeared in numerous Hollywood movies like, Star Trek (2009), Escape Plan (2013), and Elysium (2013). He is notorious for his role of Raza, the in Marvel’s Iron Man (2008).

American actor Amir Arison will play the protagonist Amir. He’s known for playing ‘FBI Special Agent Aram Mojtabai’ in The Blacklist.

The Kite Runner play’s ensemble cast includes Danish Farooqui, Demosthenes Chrysan, Azita Ghanizada, Dea Julien, Joe Joseph, Dariush Kashani, Amir Malaklou, Beejan Land, Haris Pervaiz, Christine Mirzayan, Alex Purcell, Houshang Touzie, Evan Zes and Eric Sirakian. The role of protagonist Amir will be played by The Blacklist star Amir Arison.

The Kite Runner play is directed by Giles Croft, and the performances will begin on July 6, 2022. Victoria Lang, Ryan Bogner, and Tracey McFarland of Broadway & Beyond Theatricals produced the play.
