Bad Bunny is a rapper, singer, record producer, actor, and professional wrestler from Puerto Rico. His music has been categorized as Latin trap and reggaeton, but he has also incorporated rock, bachata, and soul into his sound.

According to ‘Variety,’ Puerto Rican record producer-singer-actor Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, also known for his stage moniker ‘Bad Bunny,’ has been cast in the standalone comic book film ‘El Muerto.’

With this shift, he joins Sony Pictures’ roster of super heroes as the newest Marvel hero. According to ‘Variety,’ ‘El Muerto’ will be released in theatres on January 12, 2024.

Ocasio, alias Bad Bunny, will be the first Latino actor to star in a live-action Marvel film, as announced by Sony Motion Pictures Group president Sanford Panitch at CinemaCon, the annual conference of movie theatre owners in Las Vegas.

“Bringing ‘El Muerto’ to life is just wonderful… so exciting,” the rapper said to the crowd, according to ‘Variety,’ adding that he grew up a wrestling fan.

El Muerto also known as Juan-Carlos Estrada Sanchez in the comics, is a wrestler whose powers are passed down through the generations in the form of a mask (which grants him superhuman strength, according to Marvel’s official site). El Muerto has fought Spider-Man in the past in comic books. Sony executives said on stage at CinemaCon that Ocasio will play an antihero on the cusp of acquiring his father’s power.
