Following two years of the pandemic, A24’s SXSW opening Everything Everywhere All At Once has crossed the $20 million at the North American box office, a remarkable milestone for a platform release that will bring plenty of excitement at CinemaCon next week.

The film debuted on March 25 with just over $500,000 from ten theatres and grew from there, with a $50,000 per-theater average that was the best of the year so far and the second best of the pandemic, behind Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza, which earned $86,200 through MGM’s UA Releasing last year.

In its second session, Everything Everywhere All At Once grew to 38 sites, bringing the total gross to $1.8 million, before extending the number of locations to 1,250 in the third weekend, bringing the total gross to $8.4 million.

The film earned $17.7 million in its fourth weekend after being expanded to 2,200 theatres, and it crossed the $20 million mark on April 20. The gross was $21.5 million at the time of writing. According to sources, A24’s marketing efforts were concentrated on digital and social media.
