Gilbert Gottfried’s Twitter account ‘HACKED and deleted’ just after his death

Actor Gilbert Gottfried’s Twitter account got hacked and then deleted just hours after his family confirmed his death.
Gilbert had been secretly battling an illness before his death, according to a statement from his family.
On Tuesday, just hours after star’s family tweeted about his death, a series of shocking messages appeared on his account.
The tweets were posted by a hacker, who took the opportunity to promote their own Twitter profile before actor’s entire account was temporarily deleted.
Among crude messages were tweets which promoted some unauthentic account as well as links of rapper’s Sound Cloud page.
Before his Twitter account was hacked, his family shared a photo holding out his hands and smiling.
A message on that photo was: “We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness.
“In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children.”
The tweet concluded with: “Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor.”
Tweet left many shocked, as they were just learning of the death then and it had not been announced anywhere previously.
