The goal of International Dance Day is to promote involvement and educate people all around the world about various dance forms, including tap, belly dance, ballet, and popular Indian forms like Bharatnatyam and Kathakali.

Bharatanatyam is a Hindu dance form that began in Tamil Nadu and was developed by temple performers. It’s one of India’s most well-known traditional art forms, and it’s now regularly displayed both domestically and internationally.

In the 17th century, Kerala gave birth to Kathakali (literally “story drama”). Most Kathakali plays are based on stories from the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.

Dance is a great way to exercise and improve memory. Dancing on a daily basis can help to boost memory and cognitive abilities.

Good for heart health: When compared to other forms of exercise such as treadmill jogging, walking, and bicycling, dancing was substantially better for heart health.

Helps to de-stress: People dance to relieve stress by moving their bodies to the beats of music during these trying times. Dancing helps to alleviate depression symptoms.
