Loren Allred received the FIRST golden buzzer of BGT series
On Saturday night BGT kicked off the latest series in style on...
BGT’s Loren Allred revealed when she was teenager she suffered horrible harassment from music executives.
Loren’s voice behind The Greatest Showmen hit Never Enough, shocked viewers with her performance on the ITV show last night.
She received a golden buzzer pass to the final by show’s Judge Amanda Holden.
Loren told that she experienced the dark side of the music industry after signing to Island Def Jam Music in 2008 by the age of 19 after being spotted by US singer-songwriter Ne-Yo.
Loren said: “There were people I thought I could trust, and it turned out I really couldn’t trust them.
“They abused their power. They used my age and my naivety to get me into really uncomfortable situations, the kind we have all read about.
“There were people giving me ultimatums, like: ‘I’ll make your career happen if you do this’.
“It happened all the way through my years there. Nothing ever happened, because I was strong enough to say no.
“But I never made a formal complaint. Was I frightened? Yes. Record label executives are really good at intimidation. It took me a while to recover.”
Loren did not want to name the executives who harassed her and told none of them were part of the team employed by Ne-Yo.
She added: “Then I was dropped from the label, and I didn’t have a back-up plan. I was emotionally exhausted.”
But years later, Loren, who was working as a barista, was asked to record a demo for a new song titled Never Enough for The Greatest Showman.
Heads were so impressed with her version that they decided to use her vocals.
She has since rubbed shoulders with stars including the film’s lead Hugh Jackman, and opera’s Andrea Bocelli.
She said: “I wanted to show people that was me singing on The Greatest Showman. But I’m also a songwriter and I’m so excited to perform my own songs.”
