Rachel Zegler is an American actress and singer who played Princess Ellian in West Side Story and has been cast as the lead in Apple Original Films and Skydance Animation’s forthcoming animated musical Spellbound.

According to Deadline, Ellian is the feisty princess who must embark on a perilous journey to save her family and country when a mystery curse transforms her parents into monsters and threatens to engulf Lumbria in darkness for all time.

Vicky Jenson will direct the picture, which was written by Lauren Hynek, Elizabeth Martin, and Linda Woolverton.

Alan Menken, an Oscar-winning film composer, composed the music, while Glenn Slater wrote the song lyrics. For Skydance Animation, John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and David Lipman are producing the picture, with Chris Montan serving as an executive music producer.

Rachel Zegler is now filming Mark Webb’s live-action adaption of Snow White, in which she will portray the legendary title heroine alongside Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen.
