Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the most recent Marvel film, continued the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s new cameo trend. The film, like Spider-Man: No Way Home before it, featured numerous actors repeating their Marvel roles from prior films or television shows.
The Illuminati, a superhero society from Earth-838 that Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) discovers while travelling throughout the multiverse, made up the majority of these cameos. One of the Illuminati’s performers has now spoken up about his role in the film.
Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is introduced to the Illuminati superhero squad as he goes to Earth-838 in the film. There were several celebrity cameos, including Patrick Stewart, Hayley Atwell, and John Krasinski. Anson Mount, who played the superhero Black Bolt, was one of them. Anson has previously portrayed a different version of Black Bolt in Marvel’s television series Inhumans.
Anson posted a photograph of the character’s comic book counterpart on Tuesday, saying he was now ready to discuss about his appearance. He did not, however, provide too many spoilers.
He wrote, “Finally able to discuss this without providing too many spoilers. Getting the call from Kevin Feige was one of the most unexpected of my life. It was an honor & joy to finally work with Sam Raimi who reached out to engage me on how best to do this. Beyond grateful for the experience.”
In a fairly nasty twist, Anson’s Black Bolt was slain along with the rest of the Illuminati by the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). While many fans were disappointed that their favourite characters were brought back just to be murdered off in a matter of minutes, Anson’s appearance was well received. Fans enjoyed that, unlike the Inhumans, the character’s attire in the Multiverse of Madness was comic-accurate.
