Park Chan-wook of South Korea was crowned Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday. At the 75th edition of the festival, held at Palais Lumiere in Cannes, Park was awarded the prize for best film director for his romance ‘Decision to Leave.’

According to Yonhap News Agency, Park is the second South Korean director to receive the award, following acclaimed filmmaker Im Kwon-taek, who won in 2002 for the historical drama ‘Chihwaseon.’

Apart from Park, Swedish filmmaker Ruben Ostlund’s film Triangle of Sadness took up the Palme d’Or, the festival’s highest prize.

Best Actress went to Zar Amir Ebrahimi from the film Holy Spider, while Best Actor went to Song Kang-ho from the South Korean film Broker.

The festival’s nine-member jury is led by Vincent Lindon, a French actor who won the Best Actor Award at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.
