James Corden, the TV host, has revealed that he only washes his hair every eight weeks.

The £7 million-a-year TV chat show host also doesn’t waste time in the shower and can get ready in only 180 seconds.

During a conversation about Los Angeles residents being urged to decrease shower time by four minutes owing to water constraints, Corden, 43, made a clean breast of his restroom habits on his Late Late Show.

He said: “I’m in and out in three or four minutes. I use soap but I don’t wash my hair. I wash it every two months.

“That is a true story. I do not think we are nasty. “

When told the average LA shower time for residents is 10 minutes, he reacted: “You are joking me… what? If that is the average that means there are people in there for 20 minutes? Oh my God!’’

“What are you doing for ten minutes?” the Gavin and Stacey star asked when one of the production staff members revealed she showered for ten minutes.

Corden, who is leaving the show next year, also said that Beyonce is his top choice for the Carpool Karaoke segment. “It’s up to her,” he answered when asked how he hopes to persuade her. Nobody tells Beyonce what to do, in my opinion.”
