Media star Jimmy Fallon was one of the presenters that made an impression. NBCUniversal Upfront is one of the programmes making a reappearance after a long pandemic absence. For the first time since 2019, the programme was broadcast live, and he might be seen laughing about Will Smith’s show Bel-Air and the controversial slap scandal in one segment. The entire CNN+ fiasco was also included in the sketch.
For those who are unfamiliar, Bel Air is a modern-day remake of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, starring Will Smith. Will’s journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to Bel-Air is the subject of the show. The show is a huge sensation, with the first season premiering in March of this year.
According to Variety, Jimmy Fallon began the skit on a high note by making a joke about Peacock and saying, “There are roughly 6,000 people in this room right now, which means statistically speaking, six of you have signed up for Peacock.”
Jimmy Fallon, speaking about popular series and how The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air coincided with Will Smith’s Oscars slap issue, stated, “I’m kidding, Peacock is incredibly successful. We have over 60 million users, ‘The Office,’ ‘Miami Vice’ and our newest hit repeat, ‘Yellowstone.’ How about the reboot of ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.’ Did we nail the timing of that or not?! Nailed it!”
Jimmy Fallon then went on to make a humorous remark about CNN+, which he described as, “I’ll only be here for a minute or two, or as it is known in our industry, CNN+. Yes, CNN pulled off the impossible. They created a streaming service that made Quibi look good. But I’m not here to make fun of CNN+, because today’s presentation is only scheduled for a couple of hours now.”
