Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the next Marvel film, is off to a solid start at the box office. Fans and reviewers alike have praised Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen’s film.

The film’s star-studded appearances have piqued the interest of viewers. However, many are now asking if the cameos were simply for show or if they represent a gentle introduction for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s performers (MCU).

Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is introduced to the Illuminati superhero squad as he goes to Earth-838 in the film. There were several celebrity cameos, including Patrick Stewart and Hayley Atwell. John Krasinski made his MCU debut as Reed Richards aka Mr Fantastic, which was among the cameos. .

Doctor Strange 2 screenwriter Michael Waldron addressed Variety about listening to fans’ casting requests, “I’m not involved in the casting, but as with all of these performers, I worked really closely with him in bringing that character to life with him and Sam.”

He added, “And especially on that one, because that was the one character that had no real precedent ever in the MCU, at least. Figuring out how we want this guy to be — that was a lot of fun. That particular character is certainly one of my favourite comic book characters.”

Fans are still waiting to see whether this appearance means Reed Richards will be played by John Krasinski in the MCU. There is talk of a Fantastic Four film in the universe, but no one has confirmed who would feature in it. Many fans have wondered if John’s appearance was a one-time affair. “It’s a question for somebody else,” Michael responded when questioned about his MCU future.
