Two days after attorneys presented closing arguments in his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard, Johnny Depp returned to his musical roots over the weekend.

The actor surprised fans at a Jeff Beck concert in England on Sunday, according to several social media images and videos published online. According to sources, Depp walked on the stage with his guitar with Beck at the Sheffield event to sing their 2020 duet “Isolation,” a reworking of John Lennon’s 1970 classic. They also covered “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye and “Little Wing” by Jimi Hendrix.

Depp aspired to be a musician before becoming an actor. He even testified on the evidence about his early musical ambitions, stating that he wasn’t achieving the success he desired, prompting him to go to acting.

Depp is also a member of the Hollywood Vampires, a band that includes Alice Cooper and Joe Perry.

Depp and Heard have both testified in district court in Fairfax, Virginia, since April 11; the case headed to jury deliberation on Friday. Depp is suing Heard for $50 million in damages for an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018, and she is countersuing him for $100 million.
