Kanye West has been accused of utilising illegal samples of a Texas pastor’s taped sermon in his song Come to Life.

On Tuesday, Bishop David P.Moten filed a complaint against West in federal court in Dallas, according to details.

“Defendants knowingly and without Plaintiff’s authorization or agreement widely sampled sections of the Sermon,” wrote Moten.

“Defendants have established an alarming pattern and practise of deliberately and egregiously sampling sound recordings of others without knowledge or licence over the course of several years,” according to Billboard.

The suspected unauthorised sample appears at the opening of the song as a voice says, “My soul screams out, ‘Hallelujah,’ And I thank God for saving me I, I thank God.”

“Hallelujah (Jesus, Thank You) Hallelujah (Yes) Hallelujah…” In the final section of the music, another sample is utilised.

“‘Come to Life’ lasts around five minutes and ten seconds (5:10),” Moten stated.

“Around one minute and ten seconds (1:10) of this sound clip is directly taken from Plaintiff’s lecture.”
