With a new villa and more candidates hunting for their perfect partner, the dating programme is back.

The new series of Love Island has been teased by ITV ahead of its return to our screens this summer. The show, which has a completely new appearance for 2022, has been given a first look in new trailers.

Other dating shows are declared ‘at war’ in the promos, which say: “Love Island is the original dating show, and after 7 years of matchmaking, marriages, and babies, we’re officially owning love for 8 weeks this summer. So, all you pretenders, back off – Love Is Ours.”

According to The Mirror, it goes on to mock rival shows Naked Attraction, Celebs Go Dating, and Ex On The Beach. A graphic depicts a television screen with the title “Naked Celebs Go Beach Dating.”

The TV is swiftly squished by a pink-hearted trainer, who stands in front of the show’s iconic pool with the words “LOVE” and a banner that reads “WE OWN IT.” Another teaser depicts two naked people kissing while inflatables spell out “THE OGS OF LOVE.”

This summer, Love Island will air for eight weeks. After a rough ride in the villa, Millie Court and Liam Reardon were declared victors last year, beating second-placed Chloe and Toby.

Love Island has yet to be formally announced for a return date, but it is expected to return in June.
