Met Gala 2022 begins!
The Met Gala red carpet is the world’s most viewed fashion show, with prominent designers displaying their designs that are worn by celebrities.
The festivities began in the early afternoon at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum in the Upper East Side area.
Vanessa Hudgens impressed in a translucent black gown with a lace train as she arrived in style.
Here goes! Vanessa Hudgens arrived in style as she wowed in a sheer black gown, complete with a lace train at the 2022 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday, May 2
The Met Gala, or the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit, is dubbed the “Super Bowl of celebrity red carpets” by many.
Fashion’s largest night typically held on the first Monday in May to generate funds for the Costume Institute in New York City, but owing to the epidemic, it was relocated to September last year.
The dress code for this year’s event is ‘gilded splendour,’ which corresponds to the theme of ‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion,’ which is a follow-up to last year’s ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.’
Emma Stone looked stunning in a feathery short dress as she walked out of the Mark Hotel.
Rachel Smith was one of the first on the red carpet at the Met Gala on Monday, which is fashion’s most important event of the year.
Lala Anthony chose a burgundy number to show off her toned legs.
They’re on their way! Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner, who is expecting a child, were seen leaving The Mark hotel on their way to the event.
Tickets for the lavish event are said to cost up to $35,000 each, with tables costing between $200,000 and $300,000. Last year’s bash raised a stunning $16.4 million for the Met’s Costume Institute.
This year’s hosts are Regina King, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, who replace Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman, and Naomi Osaka.
Miranda will be a Met Gala co-chair (and guest) for the first time, but he was supposed to co-host the 2020 event before the pandemic forced it to be cancelled.
Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, will once again serve as chairwoman of the event, a post she has held since 1995. Designer Tom Ford and Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri are among her honorary co-chairs.
‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion,’ which is the second part of star curator Andrew Bolton’s two-part display examining the foundations of American style,’ is the sartorial focus, as is customary.
This exhibition will feature some lesser-known designers as well as some well-known film directors, such as Sofia Coppola, Martin Scorsese, host King, and Oscar winner Chloé Zhao from last year.
In the period rooms of the museum’s American Wing, eight directors will produce ‘cinematic vignettes,’ according to Bolton.
This year’s event will have 400 people, similar to the September event, but lower below the pre-pandemic highs of 500-600.
The other four are Janicza Bravo (Zola), Julie Dash (Daughters Of The Dust), and Autumn de Wilde, a prominent fashion designer who is also an acclaimed film director (who directed the Jane Austen adaptation Emma. and is also a photographer).
The first half of the exhibition, as well as the second half, will be on display in the Anna Wintour Costume Center’s rooms through September 5.
More than half of the pieces in the opening exhibition will be rotated out, and garments by designers who have not before been highlighted will be shown.
The Met Gala is a major revenue generator for the museum and the Costume Institute’s primary source of support.
