Today 2nd May the Met Gala night will return to New York, bringing with it the biggest stars in fashion and show business,

Since 1995, Anna Wintour has kept an eye on this event, which serves as a fundraiser for the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

But the question is what is the gala, and what will be the topic in 2022?

Here’s what we know so far about this historic occasion.

The Costume Institute’s annual fashion display formally opens with the Met Gala.

The designs that the stars will be wearing on the red carpet corresponds to the topic of the exhibition that will be on show at the Met.

Following the red carpet shots, guests are acknowledged by a reception line of carefully picked persons who will walk them around the exhibition.

Fashion designer Tom Ford, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, and Conde Nast queen Anna Wintour are among the honorary chairmen for the event.

The Met Gala’s dress code this year is Gilded Glamour.

The Gilded Age in America, which lasted from 1870 to 1900, witnessed a period of great economic growth, creating a wealth of ‘new money’ while simultaneously putting many people into abject poverty.

The Gilded Age, starring Cynthia Nixon and Christine Baranski, was a current HBO dramatization of the period.

The theme should serve as a source of inspiration for the celebrities to dress extravagantly and exquisitely.

A-list couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, Oscar-winning Regina King, and Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton are the co-chairs for this year’s Met Gala.

This year’s show will feature the work of eight film directors, Janicza Bravo, Sofia Coppola, Julie Dash, Tom Ford, Regina King, Martin Scorsese, Autumn de Wilde, and Chloé Zhao.

The Met Gala is famous for taking place on the first Monday in May.
