Naomi Judd, 76-year-old American Singer, has died.
Ashley Judd and Wynonna Judd, her daughters, shared the news to their followers.
Naomi Judd, a 76-year-old American actress and singer, has died. On Saturday, her daughters Ashley Judd and Wynonna Judd announced the news on social media.
“Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness,” the statement read. “We are shattered. We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her public. We are in unknown territory.”
“Naomi Judd’s family requests privacy during this difficult time,” said Naomi’s husband Larry Strickland in a statement.
“No additional information will be released at this time.”
Naomi and Wynonna Judd, 57, performed at the CMT Awards two weeks ago, marking the mother-daughter duo’s first broadcast appearance as The Judd’s in nearly 20 years.
They performed their 1990 hit Love Will Build a Bridge with a gospel choir, and Wynonna was overheard telling her mother, “This is really happening.”
They sang together for decades and had 14 number one hits, including Mama He’s Crazy, Why Not Me, and Girls Night Out, among others.
Later in 2022, they intended to embark on a 10-city arena tour for the first time in ten years.
They planned to celebrate their induction into Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame on May 1, 2022. It’s still unclear what, if anything, will happen next.
The family group also recently announced The Final Tour, their first tour in nearly a decade, which will take off in Michigan in September.
